Security Officer Basic Requirements: - Must be at least 18 years of age or older as required by applicable law. - Must have high school diploma or GED. - Must be authorized to work in the United States. - Successful completion Security Officer Training course, SORA (see below for more information) - No criminal convictions. Security Officer Training Act (SORA) The SOS Security Academy, located in Parsippany, NJ is a state-of-the-art training facility. Our state-certified instructors teach the twenty-four hour course of instruction required under SORA. Our training staff can guide you through the registration and licensing process. We have on-site live scan fingerprinting equipment, which expedites the process and eliminates the long wait for a fingerprint appointment at a state site. Enrollment in the SOS Security Academy is open to anyone who meets the minimum state requirements.
