Must be CPR certified.  Must be fluent in English and Spanish. HOURS OF WORK: Flexible work hours which total a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, excluding lunch; however hours of work and days worked may be adjusted to meet operational needs of the department. WORKING CONDITIONS: Patient care settingTravel required HEALTH HAZARDS: Minimal risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals such as isopropyl alcohol, potassium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, etc. Minimal risk for exposure to the blood borne pathogens. High risk of exposure to tuberculosis and infectious diseases that can be transmitted in healthcare/childcare setting. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: ·         Patrol areas of building, parking lot and grounds to assure patients/employees security and prevent damage to or loss of company and employee/patient property. ·         Assist in maintaining a proper work atmosphere at the site which includes; dealing with disruptive patients or persons coming into the center whose conduct could affect the proper functioning of the center.  To assist center staff and patients in need of assistance.·         Promote GPHA’s vision and mission to staff, patients and the public at large.·         Maintain confidentiality regarding patient/client and employee information.·         Provide services, as directed, at facilities other than a GPHA location in the event that an incident that compromises the safety, security or integrity of the United States of America should occur. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: ·         Unlock the doors of the building prior to the beginning of the workday and at the end of the workday. Ensure that the building is properly and securely locked and any security devices or equipment are properly installed and operable.·         Ensure building is secure at all times for staff, patients and visitors.·         Keep daily accurate records of pertinent activities that occur, including security and safety concerns both inside and surrounding the facility for record keeping and inspection purposes.·         Remove all debris surrounding the building including ice, snow, etc. as necessary, to ensure safety for patients, staff and visitors.·         Inspect building inside/outside for safety violation and report to supervisor as appropriate.·         Monitor the pick-up of trash and biohazard waste as scheduled and reports to supervisor immediately if it fails to occur.·         Escort employees of agencies conducting safety and/or prevention inspections, fire, meter readings, etc. in the facility.·         Change light bulbs; perform light building maintenance (e.g., spills, clean up, etc.) as required including assisting with moving light furniture; and assist with boxes and packages.·         Consult with and advise supervisor regarding concerns and problems related in or around the facility.·         Meet the GPHA driver outside daily upon his arrival to the facility, escort him to the vehicle as he departs the facility and provide assistance as needed.·         Be available in the facility to deal with patients, staff or visitors whose conduct could disrupt the proper functioning of the facility.·         Assist patients and staff when called upon or when it’s apparent that assistance is needed.·         Remove from the facility persons who do not have legitimate business in the center.·         Routinely patrol building to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.·         Monitor packages, bags, etc. of any person’s arriving/departing the facility to ensure that the facility records/property are secure.·         Attend staff developing/training sessions and staff meetings.·         Assure that patients’ rights to fair and equitable treatment self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints are followed.·         Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor toward patients, staff members, and all guests of GPHA.·         Perform all other related duties as designated by supervisor.·         Adhere to all policies, procedures, and protocols governing infection control, disposal of infectious/hazardous waste, and handling of hazardous materials.   Follow guidelines and instructions detailed in GPHA’s OSHA/Infection Control Manual.·         Adhere to all policies and procedures concerning fire safety, management of medical emergencies, natural disasters, and other safety concerns, according to protocols, guidelines and instructions detailed in GPHA’s Clinical Policies and Procedures Manual/Safety Manual and all other manuals concerning such issue. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for appropriate use of corporate resources.   REPORTS AND RECORDS: Maintain facility maintenance log as needed.Maintain daily log of facility activities.Maintain monthly record/log of security system, emergency lights and exits.Maintain log of code blue situations and fire drills.Prepare written report of any incident that occurs. CONTACTS: All GPHA staffPatients VisitorsFirePolice Safety/Health Officers                        INITIATIVE, JUDGEMENT, AND CREATIVE ABILITY: Display proper judgement to ensure staff, patient, and visitor safety under all circumstances.
