Job Title: Supervisory Park Ranger Interpretation Company: Location: Tupelo, MS Description: This position serves as a supervisory interpretive ranger at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center in Corinth, Mississippi, a unit of Shiloh National Military Park.  The incumbent will directly supervise three full-time interpretive park rangers, one part-time visitor use assistant and numerous volunteers and student interns.  The incumbent is under direct supervision of the Chief of Resource Protection and Interpretation Division.  The compelling story of Corinth in the Civil War incorporates prominent mid-19th century cultural themes in American history, which involve historically complex and controversial social/cultural issues.  The incumbent plans, oversees, and conducts a wide variety of multi-theme interpretive programs and public presentations to large and small audiences both on and off-site.  Conducts original research and develops and presents curriculum-based programs for school audiences of all age levels.  Answers oral and written inquiries, complaints, and correspondence.  Performs long range planning to facilitate development of interpretive operations and facilities, and prepares planning documents, exhibits, publications, and resource interpretive trails.  Represents the park at interpretive and education-related meetings, seminars, and workshops.  Interprets and explains work requirements, policies, procedures, goals, guidelines, objectives, standards, and priorities to subordinates.  Develops performance standards in cooperation with subordinate employees supervised.  Approves and disapproves leave requests.  As a supervisor, the incumbent ensures equal opportunity for all employees supervised in the selection of employees for training, promotions, awards, recognition, and other career development opportunities.
