Badlands National Park is located in southwestern South Dakota, 75 miles east of Rapid City (population 57,000) and 30 miles from Wall, Kadoka, and Philip. Shopping and medical and dental facilities are available in Wall, Kadoka, Philip, and Rapid City. Limited grocery shopping, service station, K-8 grade school and post office are located in Interior (2 miles from park headquarters). Shopping, medical and dental facilities, and schools K-12 are available in Wall, Kadoka, Philip, and Rapid City.  Limited housing for rent or purchase is available in the surrounding towns of Wall, Philip, and Kadoka. Description:
The incumbent in this position provides protective services to patients, property, employees, and visitors.  The incumbent conducts periodic foot patrols checking building and grounds for incidents of trespass, theft, fire, accidental or willful damage or destruction, open doors or windows, etc., to determine that they are secure and have not been tampered with.  Logs dates and time of patrols and reports any unusual events/findings.  Reports fires, accidents, hazards and any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing, and electrical systems to management.  The incumbent controls access to premises, by monitoring staff and visitors, and randomly verifying identification badges, investigating questionable credentials, and escorting questionable personnel to the badgeing office, or out of the building, and reporting such incidents.  Responds to Urgent Care Clinic (UC) when requested.  Escorts staff to and from parking lots.  Monitors clinical parking lots, GSA parking lots, identifying vehicles parked in restricted areas.  Monitors restricted/high risk/sensitive departmental entrances such as Pharmacy, Medical Records, clinical rooms, "Staff Only" areas, etc.  The incumbent utilizes the closed circuit camera system, changing the video surveillance tapes as needed; Monitors removal of government property.  The property inventory will be checked by Security if necessary.  The incumbent will use verbal non-violent crisis intervention techniques as needed.  Performs other job related assignments as assigned.
