Job Title: Park Ranger General Mussel Inspector Company: Location: Montrose, CO Description: The incumbent serves as a Watercraft Inspector and Decontaminator, responsible for implementing the park’s Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention and Containment Program. As such, the incumbent informs visitors about park facilities and regulations regarding launching of watercraft. Contacts and interviews boat operators before launching and upon retrieving their boats from park waters.  Performs inspections of watercraft and decontaminates at-risk boats as necessary using a high pressure washer.   Completes daily inspection and decontamination logs and reports and performs data entry using computer database systems.   Performs miscellaneous duties including campground caretaking as other primary duties allow.   Work involves driving a government owned vehicle to reach field locations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   The work involves extensive periods of standing and walking, in some cases over rough surfaces or inclines, carrying backpack, tools, rescue equipment, etc. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in setting in which there is regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness, e.g., high or low temperatures, confined spaces or adverse weather conditions.
