LOTT Clean Water Alliance is a regional wastewater treatment utility serving Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and Thurston County. We are proud to be a leader in protecting public health and the environment, and we are looking for a Seasonal Security Officer to join our team.
LOTTs Seasonal Security Officers will help keep LOTTs facilities safe and welcoming by observing and walking the grounds, checking cameras and alarms, and assisting visitors when they need help. Theyll communicate clearly with staff and the public, and take brief notes about anything important that happens during their shift. This role is great for someone who is alert, friendly, and comfortable being on their feet both indoors and outside.
The ideal candidate is calm in high stress situations, pays close attention to their surroundings, and enjoys helping people while keeping safety top of mind.Position Description: Under general direction of the Facilities Manager, observe, patrol, make reports, and respond to events in order to ensure and maintain the safety and security of LOTT facilities, staff and visitors. The Security Officer will maintain a visible presence on LOTT grounds, remaining alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and other violations.Duties include but are not limited to:
- Personally patrol assigned areas to ensure personal, building and equipment safety.
- Assist in the monitoring and use of LOTTs security camera and building alarm systems.
- Use of LOTT protocols to greet and educate guests, monitor their activities and report any suspicious activity to the Facilities Manager and/or local police department.
- Diffuse tense or stressful situations and navigate interactions with lost children or concerned parents and other members of the public.
- Inform and warn violators of rule infractions, such as smoking, trespassing, or other prohibited conduct.
- Respond to security events.
- Recommend or direct corrective measures to ensure employee and guest safety.
- Monitor operation of the East Bay Plaza Reclaimed Water Stream.
- Maintain a daily log of events, incidents and encounters for tracking purposes.
- Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Security Officer primarily performs work in public facilities and in an industrial setting. Due to the size and configuration of LOTT Facilities, the ability to stand or walk for long periods, climb stairs and sufficient agility to navigate uneven terrain and slippery surfaces both indoors and outdoors is required. Occasional carryingofitemsdirectlyrelatedtotheincumbentsresponsibilitiesmay be necessary. The Security Officer may be exposed to a variety of health and safety conditions including inclement weather, toxic, corrosive and combustible fumes and chemicals, high voltage equipment, bloodborne pathogens, and raw sewage.
C ontacts : This position has daily contact with the public, LOTT staff, and contracted security officers for a variety of reasons. This position also frequently interacts with visitors to the WET Center, staff from other local jurisdictions, including law enforcement, and federal, state and local regulators.

E xperience/Education : Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year of law enforcement or security experience preferred.
S pecial Requirements : Current certification in basic first aid and CPR is required. Must participate in LOTTs Health and Safety Program.
