The SOC Surveillance Supervisor provides supervisory and operational support for digital security monitoring and safety operations, assisting with risk assessment and incident response through the Security Operations Center (SOC). This position works collaboratively with BREC departments to ensure the safety of patrons, employees, and property. Responsibilities include staff supervision and training, performance evaluation, coordination with law enforcement, public engagement regarding applicable laws and conduct, and completion of required reports. The role requires sound independent judgment, adaptability to adverse conditions, and availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response as needed. Education Required: High school diploma or Equivalent Preferred: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Area of Study (Major) Required: Criminal Justice, Computer Technology, or closely related Certification(s) Preferred: Physical Security Professional (PSC) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license Years Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of security-related experience, including security/alarm monitoring, call center operations, fire life safety, or public safety. At least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity. Preferred: Five (5) or more years related experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to detect irregular behavior, threats, and suspicious patterns using multi-screen video walls; maintain attention to detail during long periods of monitoring and take appropriate action. Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and ordinances that affect patrons and/or their conduct. Strong leadership, communication, and situational awareness skills. Strong understanding of security best practices, basic risk assessment, and incident response. Ability to detect, analyze, and respond appropriately to safety or security incidents. Ability to receive incident data or communications and promptly engage or contact appropriate resources, including internal personnel. General familiarity with security systems, such as closed-circuit television (CCTV), access control, and fire alarm systems. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in close proximity for extended periods. Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions. Ability to observe situations analytically and objectively. Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations while recognizing the rights and privileges of individuals and groups who patronize the agency's facilities. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with coworkers, patrons, community groups, and the general public. Ability to perform duties in an ethical, fair, and unbiased manner. Ability to successfully pass a background check. Essential Functions and Duties: Supervise assigned SOC Agents by assigning daily duties, ensuring adequate shift coverage, and monitoring performance, professionalism, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, ordinances, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Conduct onboarding and refresher training, reinforce proper communication and reporting practices, and address performance or policy issues in coordination with departmental management. Monitor properties and facilities for vandalism, safety hazards, and unauthorized activity; recommend corrective actions and prepare written reports regarding needed improvements. Respond to incidents, alarms, emergencies, and system alerts in accordance with established protocols. Investigate complaints and suspicious or unlawful activities; advise patrons in a positive and professional manner regarding applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing park use. Report criminal activity or unauthorized practices to appropriate law enforcement agencies and assist with investigations as required. Ensure monitoring stations, security technology systems and equipment are operational and properly utilized during assigned shifts. Review and complete incident reports, logs, and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards. Maintain effective communication with other departments and external partners to coordinate operations, address safety concerns, and support events or special activities. Document shift activities and provide clear handoff reports to the next supervisor or manager on duty; escalate critical issues through the established chain of command in a timely manner.
