Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides shift-level guidance, coordination, and oversight of assigned security duties and procedures. This role supports operational execution and adherence to security protocols but does not include direct authority over hiring, termination, compensation, or formal disciplinary actions.

Reporting Structure and Functional Alignment

Dual Reporting Clarification: This role operates under dual reporting relationships, receiving direction from Retail Operations leadership and Security/Risk Management leadership.

  1. Primary Operational Reporting: Reports directly to the General Manager at the assigned retail location for day-to-day operations, scheduling, and store-level priorities.
  2. Organizational Retail Reporting Line: Assistant Manager ? General Manager ? Field Operations Manager ? Regional Director of Retail ? Vice President of Growth
  3. Security Program (Dotted - Line) Reporting: Reports to the Security Manager for all security-specific programs, policies, procedures, standards, training, and operational security needs.
  4. Organizational Security Reporting Line: Security Manager ? Director of Risk Management

Position Summary

The Retail Security Supervisor supports retail operations by serving in a dual function role that combines reception and security responsibilities within the licensed retail facility. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, patients, and visitors; assessing and de-escalating situations; responding to workplace injuries and security incidents; and supporting regulatory compliance within retail operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a secure and controlled entrance and exit for the licensed retail establishment.
  2. Serve as the primary reception point for customers, patients, and visitors, including greeting individuals, answering phones, and providing authorized information in a professional manner.
  3. Conduct customer intake procedures by verifying age through scanning valid identification and directing customers through initial purchasing steps.
  4. Issue, document, and manage visitor badges and ensure visitors are properly escorted while on facility premises.
  5. Enforce facility access rules, including denying entry or requesting individuals leave the premises when required by policy.
  6. Monitor surveillance systems and security equipment to identify suspicious activity and respond to regulatory requests as required.
  7. Perform routine and periodic checks of electronic security systems, including alarms, cameras, and access control systems, to ensure proper operation.
  8. Assess developing situations and engage with customers, patients, or employees to deescalate conflicts, disturbances, or disruptive behavior in a calm and professional manner.
  9. Respond to alarms, disturbances, injuries, accidents, security incidents, and emergency situations.
  10. Lead initial response to workplace injuries, including providing First Aid and AED support and assisting with incident documentation and follow-up reporting.
  11. Initiate, document, and maintain accurate incident reports, witness statements, and security records related to safety, security, or compliance events.
  12. Coordinate with emergency services or law enforcement when escalation is required.
  13. Protect company assets from theft, diversion, assault, fire, and other safety or security risks.
  14. Communicate security concerns, incidents, and ongoing issues during shift transitions to ensure continuity of coverage.
  15. Maintain customer and patient confidentiality in accordance with applicable privacy and security requirements.
  16. Apply company security and safety protocols consistently in daily operations.
  17. Report customer, patient, or employee issues to supervisory staff and assist with investigation and resolution as appropriate.
  18. Maintain organization and cleanliness of security, reception, and monitoring areas.
  19. Maintain open, professional communication with management, security personnel, and retail staff.
  20. Support retail, security, and operations leadership to ensure safe and secure store operations.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

All security, reception, surveillance, incident response, and customer interaction activities are performed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory expectations.

Schedule and Work Hours

This position may require working evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts based on business needs and operational requirements.

Requirements
  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Must successfully complete required criminal background checks.
  3. Must successfully complete preemployment drug and alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
  4. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Marijuana Agent Registration Card and any required local or jurisdictional work cards.
  5. Must be eligible for employment under Nevada cannabis regulations.
  6. Must be able to successfully complete and pass required virtual METRC training, as applicable to the role.
  7. Must maintain valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  8. Previous customer service, security, or safety related experience preferred.
  9. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, including internal experience.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position requires working in environments where cannabis products are present, which may include exposure to marijuana odor and plant related airborne dust particles.

This is a customer- and patient facing position and requires the ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively in order to interact with customers and patients, assess and deescalate situations, monitor security systems, respond to incidents, and perform essential job duties.
