Facilities & Security Department
The Security Department plays a vital role in maintaining safe, secure, and respectful environments across Father Joe’s Villages campuses. Through access control, patrol services, and emergency response, the department supports the well-being of clients, staff, and visitors while modeling professionalism, sound judgment, and respect in every interaction.
The Role
As a Security Officer II, you will serve as a lead member of the Security team, supporting shift operations while helping maintain the safety and security of Father Joe’s Villages facilities, staff, clients, and visitors.
This role builds on the Security Officer I position by adding shift leadership, mentoring, report review, and operational support responsibilities. It is ideal for experienced security professionals who are ready to guide others, strengthen safety practices, and support daily security operations.
Your Role in Supporting a Safe Community
Shift Leadership & Team Support
- Provide guidance and direction to Security Officers assigned to your shift.
- Support onboarding, training, and development of security staff.
- Promote accountability, professionalism, and teamwork during daily operations.
- Assist team members with completing required trainings and policy acknowledgements.
Safety & Security Operations
- Perform access control functions and conduct patrols across Father Joe’s Villages facilities.
- Support response to safety concerns, incidents, and emergencies.
- Conduct post inspections and review the utilization and maintenance of security equipment.
- Help ensure adherence to department and organizational policies and procedures.
Incident Response & Documentation
- Investigate incidents and prepare detailed, accurate reports.
- Review reports completed by shift personnel and address discrepancies.
- Communicate incidents, trends, and follow-up actions to department leadership.
- Prepare daily and periodic activity reports regarding shift operations.
Collaboration & Program Support
- Model a respectful, trauma-informed approach when interacting with clients, staff, and visitors.
- Communicate safety concerns and collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed.
- Provide additional support during high-need situations or emergency operations.
- Perform other related duties to support department and organizational needs.
Desirable Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Active California Guard Card certification.
- Adult CPR/First Aid & AED or BLS CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- At least two (2) years of security, public safety, military, or related experience.
- Experience providing guidance, mentoring, or informal leadership to others.
- At least 21 years of age.
- A valid California driver’s license, current registration, insurance, and an acceptable driving record are required due to the essential functions of this role.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard communication tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs.
- Ability to complete required health screenings, including tuberculosis screening.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience reviewing incident reports, documentation, or compliance practices.
- Training or familiarity with crisis intervention or de-escalation practices.
- Experience working in fast-paced or 24/7 environments.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or experience serving multilingual communities.
Work Schedule
Full-time position with schedules that may include evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays based on operational needs. Work is primarily onsite at Father Joe’s Villages facilities.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay for this position is based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. The anticipated starting pay range for this role is $24.00 to $27.61 per hour.
