This position supervises classification staff working with incarcerated people in the Mental Health Services Delivery System (MHSDS) at the Enhanced Outpatient Program (EOP) and Correctional Clinical Case Management System (CCCMS), as well as General Population (GP) incarcerated people not participating in the MHSDS. You will be responsible for monitoring and directing the classification process. You have a key role in ensuring collaboration between custody, nursing, and mental health staff. You will ensure assigned staff are utilizing de-escalation techniques, show a willingness to motivate inmates to attend all out of cell activities, and are collaborating across disciplines.
Under the general direction of the Chief Deputy Warden, the Correctional Counselor II, Supervisor (Grievances Coordinator), performs specific duties including, but not limited to: the processing of incarcerated people's grievances, completing staff complaints, tracking grievances, screening grievances, and the supervision of subordinate Grievances Office staff. The Grievances Coordinator will coordinate the completion of grievance responses and staff complaints at the second-level for the Warden's signature, consistent with the rules and regulations outlined in the California Code of Regulations (CCR) and the Department Operations Manual (DOM), Article 53, Inmate/Parolee Grievances, Section 54100. This position supervises custody staff working with incarcerated people in the Mental Health Services Delivery System. Ability to perform peace officer duties which include maintaining order and supervising the conduct of incarcerated people, protecting and maintaining the safety of persons and property, inspecting premises and searching incarcerated persons for contraband, and replacing and/or assisting custodial staff during emergency situations, such as fights, attempted escapes, or major incidents, such as riots.
