Environmental Health and Safety Manager Job Description The role of an Environmental Health and Safety Manager requires a blend of technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills. The position involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations, performing risk assessments, and implementing safety policies. Responsibilities Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance and performance evaluation. Perform and maintain records of job hazard analysis and ergonomic risk assessments. Provide project management teams with health and safety guidance. Collaborate with management on Emergency Action Plans and handle incident notifications. Oversee the Workers Compensation program, including case management. Lead and maintain the ISO14001:2015 environmental management system and sustainability initiatives. Control hazardous material and personal protective equipment programs. Ensure compliance with fire protection equipment and NFPA standards. Develop safety protocols for production equipment. Manage plant safety audits and initiate corrective actions. Oversee the drug screening program, including random screenings and post-injury protocols. Provide technical support and safety training for operations. Manage asset protection and operational excellence requirements. Oversee and manage a fleet of company vehicles. Read and interpret business periodicals, journals, and governmental regulations. Create reports, business correspondence, and policy manuals. Use visual media equipment for creating and editing visual content. Coordinate schedule updates, invoices, and submittals. Report project status to business and market leaders. Maintain written and electronic safety records. Essential Skills Minimum of five years of experience in plant operations or safety management. Experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Safety Certification from BCSP, ASSP, or IOSH preferred. Current certification in First Aid and CPR. Experience with ISO14001:2015 environmental management system. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred. Thorough knowledge of Federal and State health and safety laws. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other software platforms. Travel requirement up to 20%. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification preferred. Familiarity with DOE 10 CFR Part 851. Requires ability to do extended amounts of walking. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for tool use. Frequent stooping, bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
