Job Title: Safety Specialist
Job Description
The Safety Specialist develops, implements, and oversees comprehensive safety programs for complex construction projects within a highly regulated environment. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry standards, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and embedding a strong safety culture across all phases of construction. The position offers the opportunity to gain valuable data center experience in a rapidly growing industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans that align with OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry standards.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to chemical handling, cleanroom construction, and specialized equipment installation.
- Monitor compliance with safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and applicable regulatory standards for all contractors and subcontractors.
- Perform regular site inspections and safety audits of construction areas to identify unsafe practices, equipment misuse, or environmental risks, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, leading root-cause analysis and recommending effective corrective and preventive measures.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs on topics such as hazardous materials, confined spaces, and emergency response procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including safety audits, permits, incident reports, and compliance certifications.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and quality assurance teams to integrate safety considerations into planning, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Promote a strong safety culture on site by communicating expectations clearly, reinforcing best practices, and supporting continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
Essential Skills
- Proven knowledge of OSHA regulations and their application in construction environments.
- Ability to develop and implement site-specific safety programs that comply with OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry standards.
- Experience conducting risk assessments related to chemical handling, cleanroom construction, and specialized equipment installation.
- Strong skills in monitoring safety compliance, including enforcement of PPE requirements and regulatory standards for contractors and subcontractors.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough site inspections and safety audits to identify unsafe conditions and practices.
- Experience leading incident investigations and root-cause analyses and recommending corrective actions.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver safety training on hazardous materials, confined spaces, and emergency response.
- Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills for safety audits, permits, incident reports, and compliance certifications.
- Effective collaboration skills to work with engineers, project managers, and quality assurance teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety or a closely related field.
- 0-2 years of experience working as a safety specialist in a construction company.
- OSHA 30 certification.

Work Environment
The Safety Specialist works on a large-scale data center construction project, supporting field activities in an active construction environment. The role involves regular presence on site, including in areas where chemical handling, cleanroom construction, and specialized equipment installation occur. You will interact daily with construction teams, engineers, project managers, and quality assurance personnel, using standard safety equipment and personal protective equipment appropriate for a construction site. The position offers hands-on exposure to advanced data center infrastructure and high-tech construction practices in a dynamic, growth-oriented industry.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
