Starting Salary:
$ 26.00 an hour
Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification):
- Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the social/behavioral sciences, social work, counseling, psychology, or criminal justice fields or a minimum of three years' experience in the field of criminal justice/security or safety along with one year supervisory experience is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Ohio Operator's License.
Job Duties (Summary):
- Supervises, trains and directs the Resident Assistants, Resident Advisors, and Resident Coordinators. Defines expectations and evaluates performance of employees under his/her direct supervision to encourage and promote employee growth and maximize services rendered.
- Submits probationary, special and annual job performance evaluations on employees supervised within established time limits to the Security Chief.
- Maintains accurate and thorough files for documentation necessary for reports, which can be utilized in the development of an annual budget and annual report.
- Reads log book on a daily basis, makes log entries in log book as necessary, and is responsible for ensuring security staff utilize log book as required.
- Supervises the conducting of visual head counts, isolation checks, facility shakedowns and resident searches according to established procedures and documents all said activities.
- Assists in conducting and documenting monthly fire drills and other emergency drills.
- Ensures daily/weekly inspections of housing areas are conducted and documented to ensure housing areas are clean, orderly and in good repair.
- Coordinates resident household duties, recreation and visitation schedules with treatment program staff.
- Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to information obtained and processed in the operation of the facility.
- Transports residents to community resources as needed.
- Responsible for making sure all security staff receive proper orientation and meet the annual training requirements.
- Participates in gathering information and file review for the American Correctional Association (ACA) audit.
- Ensures staffing and schedule are adequate for minimum coverage.
- Communicates professionally and accurately with County and APA officials.
- Ensures Key inventories are accurate and maintained.
- Reviews daily reports and takes necessary action regarding report.
- Responds timely to resident and staff concerns.
- Promotes safe and clean environment.

Physical Demands
- Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, stooping, crouching and reaching with hands and arms.
- Must be able to transfer up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to reach into file drawers in standard four-drawer filing cabinets.
- Visual ability sufficient to effectively operate a copier, facsimile machine and a computer
- terminal, and to read reports, correspondence and instructions.
- Hearing ability sufficient to converse with other individuals, both in person and by telephone.
- Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and by telephone.
- Ability to read and prepare reports with recommendations.
- Ability to follow and enforce policy and procedure.
