Job Summary
Manages the daily functions of Security Operations through the planning, directing, and coordinating of activities of the security resources and addressing the physical security needs of the facilities under their supervisionEssential Functions

Reviews daily security operations, reporting and performance at the different Prisma locations. Responds, investigates, and reports out on Emergency Calls and significant security incidents to Risk Management, Administration and System Leadership as required. Conducts follow-up investigations, prepares written reports and documentation on investigative processes as required. Coordinates with Law Enforcement and other Regulatory Agencies as related to the security operation.
Coordinates with security contractors to ensure adequately qualified security personnel are assigned to Prisma Health facilities in sufficient numbers to support a reasonable and adequate security presence. Reviews all post orders, special instructions, and other related documents for assigned campuses. Forwards to the Security Director for approval as needed.
Performs Security Assessments. Develops, implements, and monitors processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks, accident/injury prevention, and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff, and visitors.
Coordinates and integrates services within the department, with other departments, and with the hospitals primary functions, participates on committees that require contributions from security operations as part of an interdisciplinary approach to achieve organization goals. Adheres to Joint Commission, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), State, County, City, and Prisma Health requirements related to the security operation.
Provides oversight and data management for department operations and performance improvement. This includes operational responsibilities and accountability for video surveillance systems, emergency call box system, access control, ID Badging, operational compliance programs, security incident reporting system, and other systems used by the team or the contracted security personnel. Engages with the contractors responsible for maintaining and installing physical security systems.
Monitors operational and capital budgets and costs. Assists with the preparation of the budget as needed. Prepares monthly reports, ensures compliance of the contract security company with Prisma Healths requirements, reviews all vendor invoices and tracks repairs of equipment.
Leads and/or participates in exercises/drills and training programs related to security operations to ensure team members at all levels are integrating department-level and Prisma Health policies into daily operations.
Designs operational processes, monitors performance through data, and implements sustainable performance improvement within security operations. Participates in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental performance improvement activities by creating pathways to ensure policies are reviewed and updated, Joint Commission Performance Monitoring requirements are met, and other goals assigned to the department are achieved.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law, Sociology, Psychology, Business, Emergency Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field of study.
Experience - Two (2) years of Security, Law Enforcement, public safety, personnel management, operations, emergency management, or related experience
In Lieu Of
In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, an Associate degree and four (4) years of management level experience in a field related to public safety operations
In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, six (6) years of management level experience in a field related to public safety operations or physical security.
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
Valid Driver's License and an acceptable motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) chart
Obtain and maintain all staterequired certifications or licenses, within the prescribed timeframes, that are applicable to the provision of law enforcement or security services, as determined by the authority having jurisdiction.
SLED Level I, II, and III training instructor certifications - Preferred for SC team members
Certified Security Trainer - Preferred for TN team members
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Instructor Certification - Preferred
Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Instructor Certification Preferred
IAHSS Supervisory Certification - Preferred
Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) Certification - Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic computer skills including word processing, data entry and spreadsheets
Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
