The African American Planning Commission (AAPC) Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996, committed to reducing homelessness and addressing the related issues of domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, substance abuse, shortage of affordable housing, and unemployment in the communities in which we live and serve.

AAPCI has grown exponentially — from a dedicated staff of one, with nothing but a vision and a zero operating budget, working out of borrowed office space in 1996, to over 300 full and part-time employees as of 2021. Services include the provision of three hot meals and snacks each day, 24-hour shelter, social supportive services, employment preparation services, and housing placement assistance as well as crisis case management services.

We’re completely committed to building and maintaining a great organizational culture that involves active employees – people looking to give back to the community, wanting to inspire creativity in others and motivate and empower one another.
