The Safety and Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs and employee training systems to promote a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. This role ensures adherence to OSHA and other regulatory requirements while equipping employees with the knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain safety programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state regulations.

  • Coordinate and deliver employee training programs, including onboarding, safety procedures, and equipment usage.

  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.

  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate safety and training records.

  • Serve as a point of contact for safety concerns and provide coaching to employees on the plant floor.

  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across all shifts.

Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Management, or a related field (preferred).

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in safety or training coordination roles.

  • OSHA 30-hour certification required.

  • First Aid/CPR and Forklift Trainer certifications preferred.

  • strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state safety regulations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to lead training sessions and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in record-keeping.

  • Comfortable working on the plant floor and engaging directly with team members.

Working Conditions:
  • Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment including foam cutting machinery, adhesives, and industrial noise.

  • Physical activities may include standing, walking, climbing ladders, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs.

  • May require flexible hours to accommodate training across all shifts.

Responsibilities

Safety:
Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with OSHA
and other regulatory bodies.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and
recommend corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions.
Lead incident investigations and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis.
Coordinate safety committee meetings and serve as the primary safety contact for the
plant.
Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and availability of PPE and safety equipment.
Oversee hazardous materials management, SDS documentation, and emergency
preparedness plans.
Collaborate with production teams to integrate safe practices into daily operations.
Training:
Design, implement, and manage training programs for new hires, including onboarding
and job-specific instruction.
Deliver regular training sessions on topics such as equipment operation, ergonomics,
lockout/tagout, forklift certification, fire safety, and first aid/CPR.
Maintain employee training records and ensure compliance with certification
requirements.

Evaluate training effectiveness and modify programs to improve knowledge retention and
safety behavior.
Coordinate cross-training efforts to improve workforce flexibility and efficiency.
Work with supervisors and team leads to identify training gaps and development needs.
