Our construction firm takes safety seriously, and we require all of our employees to use the standard industry practices to keep everyone safe on the job. To that end, we're seeking an experienced Safety Manager who can evaluate the safety protocols followed on various job sites, organize safety training for employees and report problems to management. The ideal candidate will have experience in the civil construction and understand the specific safety issues inherent to construction sites. The job includes significant field work, so reliable transportation and a flexible schedule are a must.
Safety Managers are responsible for preventing accidents in business and job sites. These professionals make sure that different workplaces meet safety and health and fleet requirements and then apply corrective measures if necessary. Must create programs such as company policies, investigate in cases of accidents, and implement post-injury follow up procedures for workers.

Safety Managers perform many of the following tasks:

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities of Safety Manager:

  • Visit job sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials.
  • Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures were indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Responsible to create, identify and control job hazards associated with the specific job tasks.
  • Evaluate, assess and alter safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees and clients.
  • Research and implement new materials handling processes.
  • Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts.
  • Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
  • Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Research environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance.
  • Track incident metrics and apply findings.
  • Oversee the applications for and receipt of necessary permits of safety.
  • Lead injury and incident inquiries and evaluations.
  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Department of Transportation / Federal Motor Carrier Administration (DOT/FMCSA).
  • Advises management on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Works to development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs. (Keeps program current).
  • Prefer experience in OSHA & DOT (FMCSA), regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent Computer, communication and training skills.

Skills & Qualifications:

· - Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

· -Bilingual Fluent in English and Spanish Preferred.

· - Professional certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)) preferred.

· - Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety management role within the construction or site development industry.

· - In-depth knowledge of OSHA and DOT standards and other relevant safety regulations.

· - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

· **Additional Qualifications:**

· - Experience with DOT compliance audits and inspections.

· - Knowledge of DOT regulations related to vehicle and driver safety.

· - Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other DOT compliance technologies.
