Alarm Switchboard Operator Jobs in Connecticut
An Alarm Switchboard Operator in the security industry is responsible for monitoring and operating alarm systems, CCTV systems, and other forms of electronic security systems. They receive alarm signals and perform procedures as dictated by the nature of the signal received such as notifying the appropriate agency or personnel. They also carry out routine tests on alarm systems to ensure they are working properly. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and a high level of computer proficiency.
Before becoming an Alarm Switchboard Operator, an individual might have experience in roles such as a Security Guard, where they would gain on-the-ground security experience, or as a Customer Service Representative, building up their communication and problem-solving skills. Additionally, an operator could have previous experience as an IT Support Technician which would provide a strong foundation in technical skills. Important certifications for this role can include the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) Certified Operator certification or the Electronic Security Association (ESA) National Training School's Alarm Level 1 Certification.
